Putting children and youth first

We are the only actor governed by working children and youth, for children and youth, working to address the confluence of poverty, exploitation, and abuse in all its forms.

Our Approach

All our activities begin at the grass-root level with  groups for children and led by children. Activities of different grass-roots groups are specific to each group’s needs and capacities. However, all their actions are united in their adherence to the 12 child rights established by the founders of AMWCY.

Our 12 rights were established by working children and youth themselves when AMWCY was created. Therefore, they are the core of our advocacy

Testimonials

I abandoned my studies even though I was still a child. It’s only now, with the advice and support of Association of Working Children and Youth that I’ve gone back to school.

Age: 14 years
Before I joined AMWCY, there were things I had never heard of before, like the 12 rights of children. It is only now that I know that I have rights and they should be respected.
B.K.
Age: 16 years
What has changed in my life is that I know how to read and write. This helps with my professional training [as a tailor] because I can read a ruler now.
